THE TERRORIST BEGAN RUNNING AFTER ME DOWN THE STREET DEMANDING TO SPEAK TO ME.

Nidal Hasan Fort Hood Trial
The shooting at Fort Hood was captured on video by Pfc. Lance Aviles using his cell phone camera as he hid from the shooter, but he was ordered to erase it by a non-commissioned officer on the same day of the shooting, the soldier said Friday. Destroying evidence of a crime is illegal, heads should roll as the trial of Nidal Hasan continues. It seems to me that actual video of the terrorist attack would be invaluable to the trial, to the military, to all involved.
Steve Gilbert of Sweetness and Light says of the erased video, the reporting is "From a quietly approving Associated Press".
It sounds like Mr. Hasan was not the only person who ran amuck that terrible day.
Still, is this not a crime? Ordering the destruction of evidence of a crime? Of course, in today’s military, political correctness trumps all.
And, come to think of it, is this all that different from a news service ordering its reporters not to cover a news item because it is too politically incorrect?
Writer Bobby Ross, Jr. at the Website Get Religion states this is a hearing to determine if Hasan will be tried at court-martial and the hearing is expected to last several weeks. The website also takes exception with the way some media report and in some cases fail to report.
Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar!” as he loaded and reloaded his weapon killing 13 (14 if you count the unborn baby, and I do) and wounding 32 others. Mr. Ross says, "While the words are not a surprise, they are relevant to news accounts of witness testimony." Indeed. Some media outlets translated the Allahu Akbar as "God is great" while others gave no translation. We can only assume that they assumed their readers knew what the Arabic term Allahu Akbar means.
Make no mistake, these words are extremely important in this trial. Men like Hasan are driven by Islam, the Koran, the political, religious and legal system that is Islam.
An NPR reporter says that Hasan reminds her of Timothy McVeigh, reports Howie at the Jawa Report:
GOODWYN: Lopez also covered the trial of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. She says Hasan keeps an expression on his face of determined indifference, even while the witnesses on the stand describe scenes of epic horror. It reminds her of McVeigh, who had also been in the Army.
Ms. LOPEZ: Very similar in the way they both present themselves in the courtroom. There's no emotion on his face. It's almost as if it were planned. You know, there's nothing there to show that they had any regrets or any idea of how - you know - how horrible this was.
If that's true then, Hasan is neither insane nor is this an incident of Sudden Hasan Jihad Syndrome.
Nidal Hasan is a terrorist who sees himself as Soldier of Allah. (see the image above) He acted in a sane, preplanned and effective manner as directed by the Islamic doctrine he prescribes to. Nidal_hasan_business_card
A doctrine prescribed and promoted by Anwar al-Awaki and al-Qaeda, a doctrine that is at this very moment being spread far and wide on the internet by Samir Khan.
We should convict and execute Nidal Hasan in the same way we did Tim McVeigh. However I fear that in the future there will be a lot more Nidal Hasans.
The witness testimony of those who survived the attack of Hasan are both heartbreaking and inspirational, like Spc. Megan Martin:
Spc. Megan Martin, speaking via video from Kandahar, Afghanistan, said she constantly relives the events of the day.
She said she was not injured, but "it was a nightmare that reoccurs every day."
Despite the trauma, she did not seek to delay her deployment to Afghanistan. "I wanted to carry on the mission as my fellow soldiers would have wanted me to," she said. (CNN)
The death penalty would be my choice for Hasan but solitary confinement for the rest of his life would also work. Just put him where he will have NO opportunity to witness or share his religion with others.

CITY INSPECTOR CONVICTED OF BRIBERY IN PROBE OF CROOKED PERMITS
CHICAGO — A federal jury today convicted a City of Chicago building inspector of federal bribery charges for accepting two $1,000 cash bribes from a cooperating contractor and demanding two $2,000 cash bribes from developers to approve inspections at residential and commercial construction sites, federal law enforcement officials and the city’s Inspector General announced today. Evidence at the trial, which began Monday, showed that defendant, Jose Hernandez, solicited or obtained cash bribes totaling tens of thousands of dollars from contractors, developers and homeowners since at least 2005. The jury deliberated about six hours yesterday and today before finding Hernandez guilty on all four counts of bribery that were brought against him last year.
Hernandez, 47, of Chicago, a building inspector since 1988, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. U.S. District Judge David Coar scheduled sentencing on Dec. 14. Hernandez is the 15th city inspector and the 19th defendant overall to be convicted as part of a federal corruption investigation, code-named Operation Crooked Code. A total of 27 defendants, including 17 city inspectors, have been charged since the investigation became public in 2007.
The trial evidence showed that Hernandez had a corrupt relationship with a permit “expediter” since approximately late 2005, and with a contractor since 2007, both of whom have been cooperating in the investigation. Hernandez accepted a $1,000 bribe from the cooperating contractor on Aug. 21, 2008, when Hernandez performed what’s known as a “rough inspection” — an inspection of the framing, electrical wiring, plumbing and ventilation ducts before the interior walls are sealed — at a single-family residence in the 9900 block of South Throop in Chicago. At the time of the inspection, the interior walls were covered with drywall, rendering a legitimate inspection impossible, but Hernandez signed the building permit, saying “rough frame approved.”
Hernandez also accepted $1,000 from the same contractor on Aug. 10, 2009, to approve a residential rough inspection in the 700 block of West Cornelia. He was also convicted of demanding $2,000 bribes from two different developers to not issue stop work orders at commercial buildings at 650 North Dearborn in June 2007 and at 11250 South Michigan in April 2006.
The conviction was announced by Patrick J. Fitzgerald, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Thomas P. Brady, Postal Inspector-in-Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Chicago; Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Joseph Ferguson, Inspector General for the City of Chicago.
