The Campaign for Liberty is promising 100 percent of donations will go toward helping victims of the devastating tornado that hit Alabama last week -- and it's focusing its efforts toward the state's lesser-known areas of need.
"The tragedy in Tuscaloosa proper is being well covered by the media and is getting much of the assistance being provided. With this in mind, the Campaign for Liberty will concentrate in other areas of Alabama such as Elmore County, Pratt City, Pleasant Grove, and northern areas of the state that are less known but no less needy," according to a statement from Marcelo Munoz, state coordinator for Alabama's Campaign for Liberty.
This is a perfect opportunity to show why the free market system works -- that Americans really do rally about to help other Americans and don't really need the government to provide.
"If you've never experienced a tornado before, pray that you never will," Munoz said, in his written statement. "Our Tuscaloosa coordinator's father is in the hospital after his house was blown away with him in it. Our Blount County coordinator found mail pieces from Tuscaloosa, tens of miles away."
The needs are many and include everything from batteries to diapers.
