COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The investigation into Congressman Joe Wilson's use of travel funds may be bigger than originally thought.
Rep. Wilson being investigated for ethics violations.
Last week, Wilson confirmed he met with the Office of Congressional Ethics. At the time, the congressman said investigators were looking into $12 worth of goblets purchased for U.S. troops in Afghanistan last year.
But a new report now suggests the probe may be much wider.
A Capitol Hill reporter quoted unnamed sources, saying investigators are now examining at least 30 trips Wilson has taken over the past eight years during which the congressman spent more than $100,000 traveling on the taxpayer's dime.
WACH Fox News contacted the Wilson campaign and received the following statement:
"A story based on un-named sources doesn't pass the smell test less than two months before an election. It's awfully suspicious that un-named sources are singling out the Republican Joe Wilson when Nancy Pelosi's Democrats control the committee."
Democrat Rob Miller will face Wilson in the November Election. His campaigned released the following statement:
"Congressman Wilson has been intentionally misleading the public about his ethics investigation. If he will admit to stealing in broad daylight, what is happening behind closed doors?"
