BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A line of eager people anxious to be part of the crowd at today's Republican presidential forum at the Alabama Theatre is quickly forming along Third Avenue North.
The line stretches from the front door of the theater back to 19th Street North and is quickly wrapping around the McWane Science Center.
At 5:30 p.m. GOP presidential contenders Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum will meet in the forum. Tickets are free and first come, first serve.
Doors were open at 3:30 p.m., according to a GOP spokeswoman. Seating is limited to 2,500 people.
The format will be a forum and not a debate, spokeswoman Shana Kluck said last week. "We think everybody is just debated-out," Kluck said.
