GARY, INDIANA POLICE OFFICER FACES U.S. FEDERAL DRUG TRAFFICKING CHARGES

A Gary police officer was arrested today after he was charged with drug trafficking and a firearm violation, federal prosecutors said.
David Finley Jr., 31, of Merrillville, was charged with distribution of cocaine and making a straw purchase of a firearm, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office of Northern Indiana.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the FBI and Gary Police Department, the release said.
Finley appeared this afternoon before Magistrate Judge Andrew Rodovich and was taken into custody, according to the release.
His next court appearance was scheduled fo Aug. 17 at 2:15 p.m., officials said.
